“Which wifi extender is recommended for this? Motorola said a mesh type of extender won't work b/c the router is internal. My house is 3,800 sq ft. I just order the modem/ router (Motorola MG8702). I may not beed it but want to be prepared in case.”

I have a this modem though I’ve had problems hooking things up the only one on 2.4 the range I have to say is great. my security cameras run perfectly fine with a good signal outside. My neighbor that lives across the street from me was even able to get a good signal and logon.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.You have a very big house. A mesh wifi router system starts with a central/master mesh wifi unit that can be connected via ethernet to the MG8702. The central/master mesh wifi unit can send signals to additional satellite mesh units placed halfway/closer to the fringe areas of the house. You need to buy an external mesh router system and connect to the MG8702 gateway via Ethernet. The internal wifi router of this gateway box does not work with satellite mesh units. Any good mesh wifi router system should work with this MG8702 gateway box.
