Yes! I was able to do that. Used the unit only as a modem, then connected to my Wi-Fi Netgear router. If I recall, you can do that via the Motorola App.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. My answer. No. The software and app are only for the modem function. The router has it's own priority which can not be turned off because of it's wifi range capability, at least that I seen. Motorolla sells a excellent modem only. The arris surfboard, I believe it is called. We have been using that on for years, no problems. The reason why we purchased the MG8702 is for the traffic and wifi range it has. BOTH ARE EXCELLENT. 2,500 square feet, and blasting 480 to 700 mbps. Our Arris surfboard with a Netgear router is 500 to 800 mbps on a good day. The only draw back with the Surfboard, 1 vs 4 on the MG8702 ethernet ports.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Maybe consider just buying a modem only if router not needed. I am no techie, but I think you just don't use the router function which is wifi or direct plug in. I do use the Clark Howard recommendation of having a lower end laptop directly hooked up to the router for all electronic bill paying and banking. We don't use that laptop for anything else (no email, no searches etc)
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes you can. As long as you connect your router via a CAT cable and then select it with the devices you wish to connect to it.
