If you go with the BB rebates or gift cards and DON'T sign up for a 2 year contract, you can keep your $20 line access fee. That's what I did.

Please try again later.When I purchased the phone, I had the choice of either increasing the line access fee from $20/month to $40/month OR purchasing the phone with the monthly payment of about $17.67 ($424/24 months). I choose the second since I have stayed with Verizon for more than six years. I can pay off the phone whenever I choose.

Please try again later.For contract costumers (like myself and my family), Verizon's line access fees are based on how you purchased your device : $40 per month for a device purchased in any method other than a Verizon payment plan, $20 per month on a Verizon payment plan. I'd expect the same to be true for existing month-to-month customers since there is now almost no distinction in the customer plan types. Contact customers no longer get one-time device purchase discounts through Verizon, which was the main benefit from the start.

So if you are paying a monthly payment on your phone, your line fee is $20/month, but if you purchase your phone in full your line fee becomes $40/month.
