“It looks like the part that you open to pour the water into opens and stays open in the picture. My part is completely off and I can’t get it to stay connected to the coffee pot. How do u connect this piece?”

The original coffee pot, was connected on the reservoir, I think people had a hard time closing it. Now they make it so it just lays on top. Still great coffee maker, just easier for people to put the lid on the reservoir. I personally liked the connected one, but understand why they changed it on the newer models.
