I've read every review I can find, as I am going to purchase this laptop. For me, not for gaming, but ticking all of the boxes for what I do want results in a "Creator's" targeted model (that this is named "Creator" is just a coincidence). My take-away from the combined reviews: this is not a first-choice pick for just a gaming machine, but it is capable. If everything else in a laptop fits for you with this model, you can game decently at 4k resolution. Toggle down to full HD and you're set. If you love everything else about this model and don't want/need its mini-LED display (and its price premium), there are (at least) two models with a full HD screen @ 144MHz. It's the mini LED display that sets this model apart - the first-to-market of its kind. I'll leave you to read all about that on your own. Directly concerning your heat question: reviews I've read range from disappointment in the touted 7-pipe, 3-fan cooling, to using the appropriate performance settings to help mitigate CPU heat throttling with average gaming laptop noise levels from the fans. One reviewer bemoaned the inability to reduce the CPU voltage to tweak the Intel chip's heat - and was answered via comment that there's a "secret" keystroke combination in the Advance BIOS setup that allows that (unconfirmed). Sooo, there isn't a simple yes/no answer! If I were to answer your question with what I've learned thus far, I'd say consider this series but save the display cost with an FHD screen (Creator A10SF-257 aka Creator17257). That tops out with the RTX 2070 Max-Q (not the "Super"), whereas the UHD screens offer models up to an RTX 2080 Super Max-Q. NOW you're in heavy competition territory and you just may go with another maker. NOT advice but: Alienware m17 R3 has RTX 2070 Super (NOT Max-Q) and a 2080 option. Still UHD. Just saying, and a lot more than I intended! There are plenty of comparison articles out there, don't take just my word for it.
