“Is the mousepad supposed to make a rattling sound when you tap it or should it just make a solid thud sound? I know it's a weird question but this would be my second return if this really is an issue.”

Mine does a normal sounding click near the bottom left and right of the mousepad when pressing to left or right click. No real rattle though.
