A:Answer It'll be a tight fit, but please don't waste your money. You're already pegging your TB3 connection; which utilize either 2 or 4 lanes of PCIe 3.0, depending on your laptop. The RTX 3000 series utilize PCIe 4.0 x16; it would be backwards compatible but at 3.0 speed. It should theoretically work, but you'd be unlikely to see any performance uplift.
I use a dock for my laptops, and thought eGPU's were an awesome idea, but as fast as TB3 is, it's the bottleneck for an eGPU.
I'm just a dude on the internet, so please verify my answer before making a decision. Sorry if I burst your bubble. Hopefully, I helped a younger version of me save some dough, while looking longingly at the sold out 3080 listings.
