“Does switching out the RAM sticks in this laptop void the warranty? I have more RAM available to use ( 2x 32gb) and would like to know if there would be any problems in that regard if I were to switch out the RAM. I've heard that its kind of a grey area.”

Swapping memory for any MSI laptop does not void the warranty as long as you do not physically damage the unit will upgrading your RAM.
