“Do I need my soundbar to be connected to my projector with a wire or is it wireless? I am looking at going completely wireless but understand the speakers need to be wired to the subs and then to the wall for power, which is fine.”

You need to connect your sound system with a high speed hdmi to the projector or as i did ,i used a device called arcana that extracts the sound and send it directly to the sound bar and the video directly to the projector, it sounds and looks amaizing
