Most of them have half the ports powered and the other half non-powered. The port on the switch will usually indicate which ports are powered and the norm is 15.3 watts. They do make higher wattage POE switches (30 watts per port) for devices such as high end surveillance cameras that require more power due to Pan/Tilt/Zoom features.

It is just an unmanaged 16-port gigabit switch. It won't power any PoE devices. Most of the PoE switches from Netgear have yellow markers on the ports that are PoE and the model numbers end in LP or PP...GS116LP or GS116PP. The PoE switches are powerful enough to power PoE cameras, but have an upper limit based on the PoE standard they use. 802.3af can provide up to 15.4W of power for each Ethernet port. 802.3at can provide up to 30 W of power. 802.3bt can provide 60W or 90W. I believe that Netgear provides different power adapters as well for each switch to meet your power requirements. You need to look at what your cameras need and how much power the switch can provide per port and accumulatively to determine which switch and power adapter meets your needs. For one camera, the most basic PoE switch will usually work. The product I recommeded below only has 8 PoE ports out of 16 total ports.
