It is nor wifi. It is a means to connect multiple devices to a single connection.

If you are connected wirelessly to your internet from your Apple Mac desktop for gaming, then using a wired connection will improve your speed and reduce lag. If you are already wired into your router or gateway, this won't do much. Hope this helps!
