Yes it is compatible with Comcast. You don't need to call them, it sends the MAC info directly to Comcast!

I purchased an all in one router/modem for my mom - to try and keep it simple... I have tried two different brands and a total of 4 units. They all have issues with xfinity. I have since set her up with the arris 6141 and my old netgear wireless router. You may spend a bit more than $100 but it will be worth avoiding the dreaded calls to XFINITY support.

Whatever is easier for you. The cheapest is not always the best. I can't recommend anything because I have a separate modem and router. You can also get points towards rewards if you have a rewards card with them.
