Yes, that is basically what I bought the adapter for. My internal wifi access on my smart tv went out & when the repair store told me how much it would cost to replace it, so I bought this. I have the Ethernet cable plugged into the adapter & other end plugged into the tv which is only 3 feet away from the electric outlet. This setup is working fine for me and I can use the smart tv apps again.
