• No. This connects to an existing wireless network and extends the range. You need a wireless router first, then you could add this device.

• I'm really not sure I have a wireless router and it setup in less than a minute and works great. Without a router I don't think it would work because you have to plug it in to an outlet close to where your router is so it can sync first than you can plug it in another area of your house so without a router it has nothing to sync with.
