• as an access point with a cat 5 cable to the side it does put out a weak signal (mine was - 47 db)

• All of the configuration is done through a wi-fi connection. If the wi-fi speeds are the same, you shouldn't have a problem.

• It's compatible with all routers as it extends the wireless signal to areas in your home that perhaps don't get the full signal strength from your current router. I suggest you look into the Netgear Orbi instead.
