• It comes with a stand to sit standing up but also comes with rubber pads for the bottom to be able to sit flat. I have had it both ways and now have it sitting flat.

• Yes, it can lay on its side or attach a stand to have it standing up. Standing up provide better ventilation and reduce heat buildup.
