QuestionHow far will this device extend my signal without delay?I have my internet service wired into one building on my property which is used for an office. My house is about 250 feet away. Is this device strong enough to boost the signal from the office to the house at a strength sufficient to stream internet content to my TV's in the house? Between the two buildings there is only open space. The only walls are the building exterior walls to each building.

QuestionDo I need to set up a new wifi network for this?I had used a Netgear extender in the past, and it didn't seem to work right as I had to name it something other than my FiOS router. So when I entered the area of the extender, I had to pick the network on my iPhone for example. I'm looking for something that is seamless. I set it up, and no matter where I go, my wifi is extended. Specifically to stream from an xbox or ps4.

- Answer You have to name the "extended network" something, but is automatically keeps the name you already have and adds to it. When you get on it for the first time with your phone or other equipment, you sign in to the new network once and save it. Then it automatically recognizes it in the future.

QuestionI have Comcast wireless internet it is hooked up on the first floor but my home computer is on the 2nd floor will this help my speed to the 2nd floor

- Answer Absolutely! I had the exact same problem and this extender remedied that issue. Once the extender was installed, my signal and speed nearly doubled. I would highly recommend this product to anyone!

- Answer Sure--should be. Any range extender should be compatible with your AC1200 because they are backwards compatible--meaning they will work with AC, N, G or B wifi signals. But aside from that, all routers and extenders, regardless of manufacturer, should be compatible--they are just sending out and receiving wireless signals, and none of the frequencies they are using are proprietary--in other words they are all working in the same frequency range, so they are fully compatible--they're specifically made to be.

QuestionI work in a building where internet is provided, but in my office the signal is very weak and sometimes non-existent. They will not upgrade, so the fix is up to me. Is there anything I need to do to directly tie-in to the mother router?

- Answer Ours connects wireless.. I think you can connect with cable too... we have xfinity internet so we have good internet, we use the extender to get stronger wifi out in our garage... It seems to work fine for us...

- Answer All usb 3.0 are backward compatible with usb 2.0. It should work with no issues. You won't get the fast 3.0 speed but you will still be able to access the files.

QuestionI have everything hooked up, the green light is on the Netgear device. However, when I now go to my laptop to connect the wifi, it doesn't except the password that I use for my original wifi (Belkin) router. So, what am I to enter as the password?

- Answer Try resetting your extender (a small hole for a paper clip) and do the WPA auto setup. Press the WPA button on your router then within 5 minutes press the WEP setup button on your extender. Do this with the extender in the same room as the router. You can change locations later. It is always best to use the same manufacturers equipment, just seems to work best but the Belkin should work with the Netgear.

- Answer I don't have the specs in front of me but I think the unit is "only" Gigbit capable. My fastest is a mere 400 to 500 mbps via wireless. It's more than sufficient for me but your needs may require more. :-) If you need 200 megabits per second vs 200 gigabits per second (it may have been a typo on your part?) you should be fine with this extender.

- Answer If you signal is that bad, maybe you sound invest in a better router. You can do what you want though, but if you link one to your router and then one the the extender, you will loose internet speed.

- Answer Yes your phone will(should) recognize the router. All you have to do is use the password that comes with router. WORKS GREAT!!!!

- Answer It will as long as you place the extender on the second floor somewhere that there is a decent signal. We placed our upstairs directly above our router that is on the first floor.

- Answer I think this should work for you. Netgear has an AC 1900 extender available (Nighthawk) it is more money but should not throttle your router's thruput.

- Answer No you have to have a Wireless Router. All this does is extend the signal coverage. You need a Cable Modem with built in wireless best buy should have those as well

- Answer No… we are using it to pick up an existing WiFi signal and act as an extender for an area at the far end of our office building. You could connect it via a cat5 or cat6 and then it would use that signal to create a separate WiFi signal.
