It does extend pretty well on the 2nd floor so long as you place the extender in a place on the second floor that has a decent signal.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This extender should help. The instructions for the extender suggest placing the extender about half way between the original router and the location where wireless devices will be used. One thing to be careful of is to avoid placing the extender in a place where metal (as in plumbing, washer, dryer, fridge, steel beams), concrete, or brick will be in the line of sight between the original router, extender and wireless devices. Avoiding these situations should help the signal transfer. This extender is quite powerful and has a beam forming feature, so unless you live in a large mansion, you should be fine.

The key is the strength of the signal between this extender and your router, with special attention to the 5ghz band strength since its more susceptible to walls and other types of interference. I'm on a single story with 2500sqft with 4 walls to my furthest room, and this extender boosted my signal greatly, went from 1-2 bars to 5 in the far rooms, with the extender located halfway to the midpoint of the house, where it's signal back to the router remained high.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I found that placing the extender on the opposite side of the house and on the same floor (first level) of my main router works well. Devices on the second level of the house connects well to the wireless router or extender that it's closest to.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Our setup is the other way round but this works great to boast the signal from up stairs to downstairs. Obviously there are distance limitations but in our two story house seems to be no limitations.
