• Mine would not work with a modem & my devices ARE WiFi capable. It's best that you verify before committing to spending so much $$$$!

• Yes you need a modem separately, this is just the router to send out the modems signal but wireless. This router does an amazing job if you're still interested, we live in a fairly big house with many devices.
