“sorry might be a silly question. but can i use this sort of like a hotspot like my OWN wifi or does it have to be connected to wifi in order to work & if so, does the wifi have to be strong that its connected to?”

This router has a whole section of its configuration page (accessible by either browser or app when connected to its network) dedicated to hotspot use (it calls this bridge mode). The wifi it connects to has to be strong enough to reach the router, but not any stronger.
