Yes. When you plug it into the U-verse modem and you go through the walkthrough, the router does everything for you. You just need to go back to into the U-verse modem to disable the WiFi. If you have any TV boxes or wireless TV boxes connected to the U-verse modem, keep those plugged in. Don't plug them in to the Netgear router.

A router will generally work with any internet provider. This is not a modem. Your ATT Uverse modem will plug into this router using a Cat5 cable. The router then services to provide access to the modem wirelessly or via the other NIC ports.
