Can you set your own SSID and password? null

Yes you can set the ssid for the wireless g and also the n-ac networks on primary and guest net work. Total of 4 network ids or simple same name and PW for both g and the n-ac for both primary and guest. To give 2 network ids. It's all why you want if you don't want those on the primary as well as guess to stay off the g or n-ac.

Yes download the netgear genie app on your phone And manage settings through the app

I changed the password - not sure about SSID. You can change channels if that helps at all.
