A:Answer I do not know of a way to run a phone off of any cable modem you can purchase at retail. I looked for awhile. But I was able to keep my cable modem from TWC, now Spectrum, to continue my phone service. They had to help set up the modems remotely so that I could still run my phone off of their modem. They no longer charge me a monthly fee for their modem. I also had to change my settings on my hardware (like my tv, cell phone, computer, etc) to use the Netgear network instead of the old modem. If something no longer seems to be working, just check the network and be sure it isn't using the phone one. I'm not sure if this addresses your issue but you can check with your provider and see if they offer a free modem for phone service only. It means you have to have 2 modems hooked up but you will be able to continue having a landline. Hope this helps in your situation.
