QuestionIs it compatible with xfinity - comcast service

- Answer Yes, but it is NOT a modem too (you MUST buy a compatible Xfinity/Comcast modem too). I just set this device up for my Xfinity/ Comcast service, and it works great! However, in order to do so, I had to connect this WiFi router to a Comcast/Xfinity compatible modem. I bought the Motorola 8x4 Cable modem along with a GTOTd Coaxial Cable, which I connect directly into my apartment’s wall. Once this is connected, I plugged the NightHawk into it via an Ethernet cable and had internet access in about ten minutes. Everything worked like a charm, and the NightHawk app is great for controlling/ setting up your NightHawk!

- Answer You can’t have internet in anyway if you don’t have some kind of provider. Veryzon , Optimum, RCN etc

- Answer the fiber line into your house will be to a modem you can plug any normal household network device too so yes this will work. The speed limitation will be then on the medium you use. Wi-Fi will typically cap out at 250 mb/s and will get slower the more threads or the farther away you get. There likely won't be a noticeable speed difference between this and the google mesh wifi. For best speeds (cap at 1000 mb/s) you should use wired connections to capitalize on the fiber connection.

- Answer The short answer is no. You will only get the speed you pay for, plus or minus depending on your provider and network traffic. However, depending on your current router, you should get a more consistent signal within your home. I bought this for my parents who have a home that is horrible for wifi. This router gave them a solid signal throughout their home. I hope this helps.

QuestionDoes this device support wpa3 encryption? The RAX20 states that it does directly, but this RAX40 doesn't say what encryption it handles. It seems like it should, but the specs don't say anywhere. nor does the box. nor does netgear. so does it or not?

- Answer Hi Lashdown, This would depend on your current set up. If you are using the default wi-fi that is packaged with your internet service than this will almost certainly be better range. But if you're low bar from getting too far and you're already using a similar device to this you may want to look at a "Mesh" wi-fi system that is several wifi devices that work together like buisnesses have but smaller. Examples of those are Eero, Orbi, Linksys Velop, and google wifi.

QuestionI have centurylink dsl service through telephone line. Will this modem work ? I plug phone line ( not Ethernet) directly into my current modem (supplied by telephone company -- for a substantial fee=adds 20% to monthly bill). Thanks

- Answer It will not replace a DSL/FiOS router. I was able to replace my Frontier router because they just provide me with an Ethernet connection in my apartment for my service. It can be connected to your modem provided by the ISP company though.
