There is no app for a directly wired PC or Mac like my previous Netgear router that had the Genie software. You can access the router through an IP address on your wired PC or Mac but it's rather obvious Netgear wanted you to set the router up using the app. For the most part the app preforms well getting you setup however i had a problem with the automatic firmware update it does at the end of the setup. It locked up and did not close out properly. After about a 1/2hr I manually reset the router and everything came up with the new version. I haven't used Netgear phone tech support and from what I'm hearing I hope I never do since others have said they are pretty awful.
