“Does the 40 connected device limit cover both wired and wireless? It looks like it's all encompassing in the specs but I would think that's a really low number, especially for what seems to be a high end device?”

According to the manual and Netgear presales product support, the 40 device limit includes both wired and wireless and cannot be expanded. I'm still trying to figure out why they have a built-in limit rather than a "recommended maximum" because the hardware is plenty capable of handling more than 40 devices. I suspect it's a software licensing limitation.
