Yes, it does greatly extend the range of the WiFi signal.

Yes, it works really good. Make sure you set the main router channel for maximum strength. Then move the extender around the other floor until it glows2 green lights for maximum strength. I tried 3 different spots on our upper floor to get the best reception.
