• Your not suppose to use one if your worried get a whole house installed

• I have them plug in to power outlet but plugin to a surge protector it won't hurt,it is even safer in case of power surge any electronic device can be damaged

• Anytime you want to preserve your electronic devices it is strongly recommended to use a surge protector. Electronic devices are very prone to abnormal electrical occurrences such as with brown outs and black outs.
