It depends upon the router. Some have very powerful antennas that can push the signal further than other makes and models of routers. Also, the other thing to consider is this, the 2.4Mhz band will travel further than the 5.0Ghz band because it is a lower frequency. So, yeah, the 2.4Mhz band of this router will travel further outside of your home(500ft maybe). The 5Ghz band won't travel as far.

Your home construction materials, wall/duct location, placement of the router itself, your landscaping features, fences, etc can all affect the wireless range. If you need to get signal that far away - you're best to place a second router or network extender device. NETGEAR has several products that can solve this for you.

You can not use it with a power strip plugged into the same outlet or an outlet the has anything else plugged into it, that has a surge protector in it like an office refrigerator or your computer. The adapter pretty much needs its own deicated outlet run to the circuit box to be of any use. Oh and if you have a GFI on one outlet in the circuit it won't work either, none of this is in the discrption or install instructions. You have to read the whole book that comes with it to find this information. Good luck I'm taking mine back and just going to run a wire to the house modem or get a WiFi exstender. That actually works.
