WPS = Wifi Protected Setup. This is just a way for the router to generate a secure password for connected devices that also use WPS. When you initially configure the router, it will prompt you for a wifi password. That password would then be used by any device to connect to your wifi. However, some devices such as printers or "smart home" appliances don't have a keyboard for you to enter your wifi password. On those, they often will often require using WPS. In that case, follow the instruction that came with that device. The usual procedure is to press the WPS button on the router, which puts it in pairing mode, then activate WPS with a button on the device. The two will then exchange a secure, digital password and the device will now be connected.
