Yes, it will work. It was the best thing I could have done. Turn off the wireless option on your AT&T Uverse modem/router, connect the Netgear Nighthawk and use that network to connect to wifi. Your speeds and consistency will greatly improve.

Yes - Netgear routers were recommended by my ATT service guy. He said they work the best with ATT DSL internet. I remembered this when my old Linksys router died. Very easy set up even for an old gal. Took less than 10 minutes to set up with the Netgear Genie software.

You must have a modem to use with any internet service. Most Cable, Fiber, or DSL modems are provided by your ISP (at an additional monthly cost). I recommend purchasing one outright. The cost of ownership over time is less.

Routers aren't specific to internet provider unless your provider is purposely blocking certain MAC addresses which means they could block this router from being used. But if they did that, you should go with better internet provider or you could change the MAC address of the router to an accepted address so it will trick your provider into thinking you have an accepted device.
