This is just a wifi router and not a cable modem. It doesn't connect to cell networks or anything like that. It requires you have cable modem or dsl service to the building.

This router has no connections for landline. To keep a landline, such as through TWC, you must connect this router to the TWC-supplied router and the configuration wizard is able to detect that and walk you down a configuration path to enable this Netgear router to work in conjunction with existing modem/router. That's the option that I used. Cable is connected to TWC router and Ethernet connects old router to new one. Simple setup. This is a great device.

It will work with LAN DSL or LAN Cable service.

This is a router, not a modem. It has only Ethernet and USB ports. It does not connect directly to the Internet. If you do not have a modem you would need to purchase one for your provider connection or purchase a modem/router combination.
