"Better" is an over used term. The router you have is very good and unless you have a need for some of the added feature's this router has or just like to spend money stay with what you have setup, or look for a firmware update for the router you have that might add the feature you are looking for.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes - the Nighthawk X6 AC3200 blows the Asus out of the water!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. All day long! The net gear R8000 has exceeded my expectations. I've compared mine with my friends AC2400 and it simply doesn't compare. Get the R8000! You won't be disappointed.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I only have R800, so I cannot compare the two, but I can tell you this: the setup process took less than 10 minutes, there were so many options that I did not change, I only enabled the 2.4 & both 5Ghz wireless radios, the default password, and setup some static ip address for some of my device, the router restarted 2 times, and since then it has been working without any problems. I used to like Asus, and buy Asus products, that was before I got the Asus TF700 (Asus, used the cheapest possible components to build it, and hence extremely slow IO operations, now the 700$ tables is an expensive paper weight…). Since then, I've boycotted Asus. That said, I love my R8000, I have had it for ~6 months now, and it has been working flawlessly. I have 2 Xboxes, one Windows 8 media center, one PS3, 3 HDHomerun tuners (total of 7 tuners that media center uses) and several laptops (PC/Mac), and three tables. Sometimes we stream from HBOGO, and Netflix and record (several) TV shows on the media center at the same time, and the router handles it without any hiccups ( Actually I think in the logs I saw it saying bring it on ) I hope this helps you to decide...
