Ive been stuck in the same problem with Netgear since purchasing this system in april of this year (2025). The last sets of communications i have gotten from them seem to indicate it is an engineering issue :(

(Nighthawk modem works great, however). Save yourself the trouble and get a Eero Max 7 three pack. I bought a 970 system (three pack; router plus two satellites) and it was the worst wifi decision I've ever made. 4,300 sq ft house. Paired with a Netgear Nighthawk CM3000 modem (compatible with the cable provider in my area). Router on main floor, one satellite in basement and one on the second floor, with a wireless backhaul. System worked great as designed for about a month or two, then it started falling apart after the latest software update occurred. It never worked right after that. Upstairs satellite stopped sending traffic, devices would be kicked off sporadically throughout the day, and speeds got slightly slower. Speeds upstairs tanked dramatically because the upstairs satellite decided to do nothing. I worked with Netgear support for over a month trying to diagnose the issue. Most of the features were turned off at this point and it still had issues and never worked right. I gave up because they wanted me to send them debug logs from all three devices so Netgear ENGINEERS could investigate. Then about a week ago it dropped all SSIDs completely, no wifi, modem still showed good connection with cable provider. Talked with Netgear support again. Had to basically yell at them and tell them I'm not troubleshooting a broken system anymore and to send a replacement. I'm not doing Netgear's engineers' job for them. They can do that when they receive the broken unit. Finally got them to approve a replacement, but I think they are just sending me the router and no additional satellites. Installed an Eero Max 7 three pack with the three devices in the exact same locations as the Orbi system, and it works incredibly better. I even have better speeds throughout the house than on the Orbi system.
