A:AnswerUpdate: I received a new mesh system from NETGEAR support and the new system works flawlessly in the exact same configuration. I just had defective hardware.
A:AnswerI have not had any issues. It works on all bands. I have devices on all 5,6 and 2.4 at my house. The only issues I had was when I put to many satellites in my 6,000 sf house. It works well with base and 4 satellites but if you put them to close together you will have big problems.
A:AnswerEasy enough to connect but IMO not worth it. I bought a third satellite for a total of four units - 5000 foot home as coverage and speed was not as promised. Even with 3 satellites- not great. No better than the $600 Arris I replaced, or the older ORBI before that. I’m into these for about $2500 as I also got the top line modem.
A lot of dough without much to show for it.
A:AnswerSince you have no answers I will offer this. I have had a 960 satellite sitting on my back porch for a couple of years in temperatures ranging from 5F to 105F and equally wide ranges of humidity. In that time it has been reliably linked to another satellite in a family members house on the next street over. So, no promises, but unless you have a galvanized steel shed in the Texas heat, or exposure to rain, I suspect the 970 would operate properly in your shed. Good luck.
A:AnswerNo, you need to use the appropriate model satellites.
That would help make them more affordable! I’ve had my old Orbi for years. Thinking about upgrading but it’s $$$$ expensive.
A:AnswerYou can start with a two pack and see how it works. It depends on several factors for connectivity. But once you are up and running with two, the app will show you your WiFi signal strength. I’m fairly sure two will cover. I have a 2800 sf home and use the older model and I get coverage in my backyard and front with two satellites.
A:AnswerYou have limitations from your actual devices. Just because you have the latest and greatest technology for your router your weakest link is your older device. Additionally your new mesh has better bandwidth for 100-200 devices vs my older mesh has 45. And everything in my home is using WiFi.
A:AnswerLikely to be convection, or possibly some form of small fan. You could probably assume that the manufacturer did some form of testing of the ventilation incorporated into the product to prevent overheating and desalinization of the unit, but *shrug*.
A:AnswerI’m fairly certain it will. They do compatibly testing prior to releasing any updates. And if something happens, you will get a new update. I do monthly updates checks and reboots, seems like my old mesh hasn’t had an update for a year. And runs flawlessly. But I have more devices than it supports.
