I have Xfinity and it works fine with the modem they provide. You'll need to log in to your gateway to disable the WiFi that's built in to your modem since it can interfere with the mesh units.

The ORbi is a wireless system which would plug in (hardline LAN) to your Xfinity router, and provide wireless connectivity in your house. I have a Froniter router with wireless, but the wireless routers they include with the modem is not great, so the Orbi provides better wireless connections, plus I placed the satellites upstairs and downstairs, so the wireless works everywhere in the house, plus outside a little ways.
