It is only one SSID with both 2.4 and 5ghz and it seamlessly switches between the two depending on how far or close you are from a satellite. The satellites connect to each other and slightly degrades the signal. I notice that satellites closer to the router are more often on 5ghz, opposed to the satellite I have in the basement that shows a 2.4ghz connection.

But once you download the app, you can see what devices are broadcasting on 2.4 ghz and which ones are broadcasting on 5 ghz. Also the satellites only piggy back on the router itself. They will not piggy back off of each other. That’s why it is crucial to choose carefully where you are placing your satellites in comparison to the router.
