Q: QuestionThe description says that the Orbi Outdoor satellite will work with any ac router? Is this the case? Will it work with our Nighthawk x4 ac2350? We are trying to get wifi out to our barn which is approximately 100 linear feet away from the house.

• A:Answer It worked with my xfinity router. I am sure it would work with your nighthawk one. It is very easy to set up. Just follow the instructions for extender mode to use the same wifi name and password as your existing one.

Q: QuestionIs this the RBS50Y-v2? I was told by Netgear support that the second generation of this extender works with the orbi wifi 6 routers.

• A:Answer RBS50Yv2 is not compatible with the Orbi Mesh WiFi 6 system. It says it works with “every router,” but it doesn’t. In fine print, it states it is not compatible with Orbi 6. After spending morning troubleshooting without success, I had to return this product. Netgear does not have WiFi 6 compatible outdoor extender.

• A:Answer I think it is only compatible with the Orbi AC3000 router. I know it does not work with the newer Orbi 6 mesh router. I installed mine outside in my pergola, about 30 feet from an indoor AC3000 mesh satellite, which is in my back room about 30ish feet, and separated by a wall, from my AC3000 router. I daisy chained them. I get fantastic connectivity all around my large back yard now.

• A:Answer Don't see why not. Note that this best works with other Netgear orbi units and if you don't have those then you are overpaying for mesh network hardware when you're just using it as a range extender.
