QuestionI have 3 Powerline 1000s - one being connected to the router in basement. If I get a P2000, I have two options. I could put the 2000 on the router with using the 3 1000 with the devices OR I could just add the 2000 to the new device. Compatibilities?

Questionto be clear, I have to plug the router power cord into the powerline and then plug the powerline into the electrical socket. Do I also have to plug an ethernet connection from the router into the powerline as well?

- Answer You don't have to plug the router power cord into the Powerline. Just plug the Powerline into a receptacle close to the router and then the ethernet cable from the powerline to the router.

- Answer Yes you have to plug it directly to the wall outlet. Then you could plug the surge outlet to the netgear outlet if you have other devices on the surge protector.

- Answer You also need an ethernet device connecting to the router. If it's in another building, it might not work. The box the devices come in show it working in a single building all sharing the same wiring. So unless you set up a phone line or cable router in the outbuilding it probably won't work.

QuestionWill this work with a Google Nest Wi-Fi Mesh network and not degrade performance? I want to add this to my family computer where my son games and I am hoping this connection will improve bandwidth for everything else connected to Wi-Fi.

- Answer It really doesnt effect wifi. It hard wires an ether net connection through outlets. So if you put this in your sons room. He will have a hard line connection minus 30 ft of cat 6 cable. It will be a bit faster than a wifi connection.

- Answer Solar panels may affect wifi. The tp link sends data through your electrical wires directly to the connected device, so the solar panels should not interfere with your connection!

- Answer You cant plug the Netgear to the surge protector. Has to be plugged to the wall. You can plug the surge protector to the netgears outlet however.

- Answer Yes, you can plug the TP-Link TL-POE160S injector's AC adapter into a Powerline adapter (PLP2000) outlet. The injector safely converts AC power into 54~55V DC for the IP camera. This setup will not cause dangerous "feedback" or interference, as the PoE injector is designed to isolate the power, and the Powerline data operates on different frequencies I hope this helps.

QuestionWhat is the major drawback in loss of mbps? I’m putting together a gaming room literally one room away from where my router is plugged up. I just can’t run the Ethernet to it practically. I’m worried about slower speeds with this option.

- Answer The loss of mbps depends on your electrical wiring. This did not work well when I plugged the 2nd box into the master bedroom outlet where I really wanted to get the wifi expansion by setting up a router as an access point. That had a poor connection. Every other electrical circuit had a good connection. I ended up putting the access point (router) in the spare bedroom on the other side of the master bedroom. I subscribe to 200 mbps speed through Xfinity. Speed test next to the main router over wifi run 200+. Where I got maybe 34-50 mbps I now get 100+ in the master bed room. That is satisfactory for my uses.

- Answer Sure, you can connect a wifi extender and use any brand. Do not use the security setup on the Powerline 20000 it will sometimes interfere with the Extender or router you connect to it.
