It takes care of itself and sets itself right back up. I've owned this for a few months and only one time did it come out of sync. Simple fix: factory reset by holding the button then set it back up which literally takes seconds. This has been fantastic for me as my wife and i both needed hard wired outlets in different rooms. Only complaint is that it is a bit too big to allow full access to your upper outlet so that shouldn't be a boasting point for netgear. 5.5/5 Great purchase!
