You would need to purchase a mobile hot spot with a data plan from your mobile phone provider, or purchase a tablet with that ability built in. You cannot "connect wifi" when there is no existing service. Let her play on the iPad without the internet. She will survive. Better yet--put the iPad away, and talk to grandma. We used to do those sort of things. ;-)
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You need to have internet access available to use these devices in the way that you described. They are simply for providing a wired connection to your cable modem, dsl modem, or home network via the power wire in your walls instead of using network cable. The performance of these is much better than wireless 802.11a/b/g/n in most circumstances for a number of technical reasons. You can indeed buy these units with a built-in wifi access point, however that isn't going to magically provide internet service from a cable or phone company. Again, the speed of these depends on the quality of wiring in the home and the connections made at box in the garage, utility room, or wherever service enters the residence.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.this is only for ethernet connections. for wifi you may look into range extenders or bridges if there is a wifi router in range or the only other thing i can think of is if you have a smartphone, most have a tethering or mobile " hotspot "option. so you could piggyback off of your phones connection.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If grandma does not have internet, you will have to have your own portable WIFI such as the Verizon Jetpack or MiFi as they are called. If you have a smart phone, most of them also have the ability to turn on WIFI HOTSPOT. Your data costs will go up if you do not have unlimited wireless. Insure you lock down the security settings to only your daughters devices.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If the iPad has built-in cellular capability, then you can use it to connect to internet, but you have to pay a cellular service provider (Verizon, AT&T, etc) for this connection. Assuming the iPad does NOT have this capability, if you have a smart phone, contact your cellular service provider and ask if your phone has wifi "hotspot" capability. Or ask about a separate mobile "wifi hotspot" device. You might be able to get a hotspot device for free, but you will have to commit to a monthly data plan for 2 years. The nice thing about iPads with cellular built-in is that you can go month-to-month for data. It might be better to sell old iPad and get one with cellular.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If grandma does not have any internet service at her house, perhaps a cellular wifi adapter or hotspot would be the solution. Verizon provides these devices, but they aren't cheap. You might also have the capability of using your phone as a wifi hotspot, which also feeds off of cell signal.
