“Hi, I do NOT have an internet/cable provider. i was wondering if a router alone would provide wifi? or would i need to actually have optimum, xfinity, direct tv etc something to receive wifi ?”

• The router will provide wifi in that you will see a wireless network you can connect to. But without an internet provider, there will be no data for your router to send. So, if you want to access the internet, stream movies, etc., you must have an internet provider.
