A:AnswerI have 60Mb internet service *only*. Works fine with this modem. You will need a router too. I have Motorola model MB7220. Works fine for internet. You may need more souped up devices depending on what you use the internet for. I have the basic models of router and modem. Xfinity has a (loooooong) list of compatible modems/routers for internet *and* cable on their website. However, there are plenty of compatible models that are not on the list. Check with a live chat agent if in doubt.
A:AnswerGenerally yes they would be next to each other. They at least have to be in the same room, unless you are running very long cables. Mine are right next to each other, on the floor in my living room.
