Yes, you have to be able to press the button on the router to make it go find the extender.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Unfortunately, you will need direct access to the router in order to press the wps buttons to connect. Otherwise, you'll need direct access to your routers ip address to manage the connections and such on the computer, you can setup the extender that way. Ideally this is not a seperate router, it's just an extender which means it piggy backs off the actual router connection to pull it further for a stronger wireless range connection. when it sets up the network name will be your routers name ended with "_EXT", you'll either need to connect it via the wps push button, or with the same password of your router.
