The Netgear extender worked as designed. I returned it after upgrading my network with a Netgear dual band router (WNDR3700) & Motorola Surfboard modem (SB6121). So...I no longer had a need for an extender. The wifi signal now extends throughout my home without any additional signal extender equipment.
I've concluded my range problem was due to the aging equipment offered by my local cable company. My download & upload speeds are now aligned with the Tier that I'm paying for as well. Buying my own router also eliminates the 3.95/month cable service fee. The Netgear router is a gem and I'm fully satisfied with it.

Reason for buying: I have my wireless N router upstairs in a bedroom of 2 story home about 2500 sqft. Upstairs i have my ps3 and xbox360 wired in, but have our iphone4s, laptops, blu ray player (master room) connected wirelessly since they are usually downstairs with us. Recently been getting only 3 bars on wifi laptop in the master downstairs and the blu ray player would pause sometimes while streaming netflix. It's a new sony player but I know these dont always have the best wifi connections. So I decided to try this out and it has worked perfectly the past few days. Was on sale $59.00.
Setup: I'm no networking expert, but this thing was super easy to set up. Not sure what all the issues are that people complain about. Must be some issues with compatibility of the actual devices trying to connect. All I had to do was plug in the extender in my master to help support my laptop, blu ray player, and iphone 4. Plug in the extender where you want it set up....press the set up button on extender, then go upstairs to router and press the set up button on it.....bam...connected. Got the green full signal led light on the extender. On laptop under network connections the "new extended" network shows up as same name but with _EXT at the end of your network name. Password will be the same.
RESULT: Once connected to the EXT network signal, while in the master I had 5 full bars (excellent) on my laptop and I could see the original router signal still only showed 3 bars (good). Awesome! Haven't seen it fluctuate yet (even now while typing this in my living room downstairs). I have the extender sitting on my blu ray player in master and wired in. Getting better signal now and streaming netflix is way better now on it rather than before when it was connected wireless to the router.
Time will tell if it holds up, but very happy now with the boosted signal coverage. Recommended. Too bad it's not a dual band, but I run everything off 2.4 Ghz right now anyway.
See my attached pic of connection after set up.

Bought this product to hook up my tv via Ethernet because my usb wireless stick went out. Very easy to set up and no software to install. Extends the wifi greatly and also easy to hook up anything that is not wireless through the ethernet cable. Great product at a great way to rice.

Very easy to set up, has a smart feature that lets you view the router remotely. Excellent range for the price. Xbox is 2 floors away and keeps connectivity 99% of the time. Printer does have some problems, wireless connectivity about 95%, but laptops always have excellent signal. Speed is excellent.

I purchased this to replaced another product that kept dropping signal to my router. I have had it connected for 3 weeks without any loss of signal. Works great and is super easy to sync up if you already have a Netgear router ( or any other router with a WPS option ). Just push the WPS buttons on each device and within a minute you are up and running.
I highly recommend Netgear products. Good quality and very reliable.

I was looking for an extended range device that wasn't too expensive. This was a good purchase. It does what I wanted it to do and the price was reasonable. I had no wifi service in part of my house. This does exactly what I needed it to do. I now have service through out my house as well as outside. I am happy with my purchase.

I live in a ranch house where the Comcast provided base unit is in one end and the bedrooms are on the other. The kids were complaining because the WiFi didn't reach their many devices (computer, iPad, phones, PlayStation, smart T.V. etc.). For a decent price I placed this midway in the house - installation was easy, just plug in near the base unit, push a button on each, wait for them to sync, then move it to the middle of the house. Easy to locate under "networks" on each device and uses the same password as the base unit. BAM! Less than ten minutes and no more crying!

My router is located on the lower level of our house and signal strength is cut in half on one side of the house because of part of the foundation that makes up one of the walls. This extender was not only easy to set up but it more than doubled the signal strength throughout the entire house! I now connect to my network from the street when I am getting ready to pull into my driveway.
Strongly recommend for anyone with a larger home or an older home with thick plaster walls, multiple layers of siding, or anything else that would block / degrade a WiFi signal.

This unit is prefect, small, sleek, and easy to set up. The range is better than I expected and the signal strength is full bars in a very large area with many obstacles. This is a good buy.

I have my detached garage at home set up like a room for all my stuff my wife won't let me put in the "real" house, like guitars, workout bench, stereos, video games, etc. So it's only natural that I would want Internet in there as well.
Only problem was that I couldn't quite connect in there with my laptop, which I use to play music or listen to the baseball game or whatever other kind of cool stuff I want to do in there. Moving the modem around didn't help, so I looked online and heard a repeater might work. This Netgear one had good reviews and was available in the store so I excitedly picked one up. I really didn't want to run a cat-5 cable to a completely separate structure detached from our house!
I remember just a few years ago when doing ANY kind of modem/router connection was pure voodoo and never made any sense whatsoever, so I figured this would be pretty hit or miss and might not work at all (that's why I like Best Buy's return policy.) So I turned this on in the garage and expected the worst.
The thing started working before I even set it up! I had internet instantly! Just plug it in, push the button and then when you try to go online on your laptop or PC or whatever, a page will automatically come on your browser and start the setup process. It asks you which network you are starting from, asks for your network key, then lets you set a password for the new network (you can name it whatever you like) and then you connect to it and it's all good! I get more bars on my laptop on this connection than I usually do inside.
And the weird thing is that I have the actual Netgear Extender hooked up inside the garage, where I couldn't even get connection before. So it is able to be my wifi spot where I couldn't even get connection before. So that is really convenient. It's able to set up right where I need it to. I was worried I'd have to put it inside the house near a window or something, uglifying my wife's kitchen. That wasn't going to fly!!
So yeah, no problems here at all. Very cool product. I wish it was a little cheaper, but it seems fair considering the price of a separate modem or more expensive access point, which is unnecessary in my case.
Also what is cool is that you can turn it off and on again without needing to reset the connection. The power in my garage is usually off, so this is convenient as well. I hit the switch, it comes on, the little lights turn green and it's back up just like new!
BTW I have a 2wire modem from a couple years ago, FYI, so I'm not sure how it will work for other types.

I bought this and for the most part it seems to be doing a good job. I live in an apartment above my sisters garage (which is disconnected from the house). I pull her internet to my apartment and I needed something to make the signal stronger. Which this did and I am happy for it. So far my one and only complaint is that every once in a while I lose the signal, it doesn't stay lost for long. I am not sure if this is because of the merchandise/product or if it has to do with something on my sister's side.

Great price works for the most part to extend my wifi through out my home.
I have had to keep unplugging it and plugging it back in because my internet will go out even though it's on and all the lights indicate it's working. After I unplug it and plug it back in it reconnects to my internet and then it's great but I wish I didn't have to do that so often, which is at least once a day.

The product works as advertised. I'm using it mainly to hook up to my Dish Network Sling Adapter so that I can watch TV anywhere in the house with my laptop and also on my PC in an office on the other side of the house. The product sits quite a ways from my modem/router yet maintains the highest speed of internet that I get straight from the modem. I also have my wife's PC hook up to it wirelessly when her wired connection acts up (using the powerline adapter also from Netgear, and having more issues with that item). Installation was a breeze, pretty straightforward, no hiccups. I first had my wife's PC connect to it wirelessly to give it a name, then plugged my sling adapter in, and there you go. I was able to use the Sling adapter through the wi-fi extender with no problems. The only issue is that since I bought it (maybe 6-8 weeks ago) I have noticed that my sling adapter is not connected to the internet 3 times. It's an easy fix as I just unplug, then plug back in the wi-fi extender, but this would be a nuisance if my family and I were on a trip and could not unplug/plug back in the device since we're away from home. This is the only con of the product so far.

I needed a way to use the AirPlay feature on my pioneer elite receiver in my bedroom theater setup. Setup was fairly simple from the included instructions. This device has worked perfectly for using AirPlay from my apple products to communicate with my receiver. It also has ports for the bluray player or other internet connected products and relays to my wireless printer in the office.

Bought this for streaming since we had to cut cable and rely solely on internet (netflix, hulu). Hooked up an ethernet from the extender to our streaming device and works like a charm. This extender was placed 50 ft from the wi-fi router and it takes signals extremely well. I also get to connect my phone and the speeds are super amazing. definitely worth the money

This is an excellenct product at twice the price. I was able to extend our network from our bonus room to include all the rooms across the other floor of the house. Before the extender, I wouldn't be able to use Facetime, Netflix, Amazon Prime throughout the entire house, At the farthest point, I would only recieve 1 bar of service, I now can get all 5 bars plus I was able to hard wire the TV, Blu-ray, Xbox. Only negative comment would be that a person needs a little networking knowledge to install. I would not be able to give this to my in-laws and expect them to install it by themselves

It seemed a little hard to install when I started reading the instructions, but it was in fact very easy. I turnet it on and found the name of the connection in my iPad, than it started the setup up page by itself, and demanded very little from me. The range is up to my expectations and better than my wifi router

The setup was easy and straightforward. I liked this because it enhanced the strength of our home wifi and it has the added feature of being able to plug in a ethernet cable from a non wifi device to have access to the network...I'd rate the signal of this as stronger than the base wifi router
