Need to plug it into a 120 volt or 12 volt plug to run it or you buy a battery for another $150 that would run the cooler for 5 hours and if you put a 100 watt solar panel it will keep the battery charge during the day and run the cooler all day on a sunny day I hope I answered your question I love it !!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Mine has to be plugged in either 120v or 12vdc due to the fact that although the fridge cooler has a spot for a chargeable battery, it didn't come with one. They're available direct from NewAir but they cannot ship to my address, so my preferred refrigeration choice will be to use 2 dedicated LiFePo4 batteries, so that one of them will always be running it while one might be recharging via solar or 120, or just kept at the ready. Of course, if I might be in range of an actual power outlet, then it'll run off of that 120 source. But to answer the hold charge question, if lucky enough to have the NewAir battery, I think I read somewhere it is like around 5 hours.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The fridge as purchased does not come with the optional rechargeable battery pack which must be purchased separately; so until I can find the suitable battery option, it must run on external power source (120, solar or 12vdc). As I understand it, the battery will give you a variable time on power dependent on selected settings. So as not to run down my Anker battery I'll begin with house current until it reaches optimum temps, then switch it over to the 12vdc outlet on portable battery. With the ECO setting you can control how much power gets used as the individual cooler & freezer sections have temperature adjustments so it doesn't run constantly (and if I ever find/get the optional battery pack I'd assume these settings will save battery power also).
