Thank you for the question and happy to help. The Micro SD card will store footage for viewing via app if no local recorder or cloud storage is used. Wi-Fi is required to view via the app or remotely. If you have a local recorder it can be viewed locally without Wi-Fi via the HDMI output from the recorder. Or if not worried about alerts, you can have the Micro SD card store footage without Wi-Fi connection and pull when needed to review with card reader and a computer or other video playback equipment.
