Since they’re hardwired, the video feed and notifications are faster and more consistent compared to Wi-Fi-only cameras.

Internet Accessibility: If configured with Night Owl Protect Cloud, the video can be accessed remotely over the internet. Q: QuestionDoes this camera require wifi to view and record if a Micro SD card is purchased

• A:Answer Thank you for the question and happy to help. The Micro SD card will store footage for viewing via app if no local recorder or cloud storage is used. Wi-Fi is required to view via the app or remotely. If you have a local recorder it can be viewed locally without Wi-Fi via the HDMI output from the recorder. Or if not worried about alerts, you can have the Micro SD card store footage without Wi-Fi connection and pull when needed to review with card reader and a computer or other video playback equipment. If you have a compatible Night Owl SP Wi-Fi recorder, the Wi-Fi camera will connect to a private Wi-Fi connection generated by the recorder. You may use the camera by itself and either add optional Cloud Recording or leverage a microSD card on the camera to record key events then pull and review as needed.
