“For outside installation, do the cameras need to be covered and near an outlet to function properly?”

• Good afternoon, While the cameras are all-weather rated, we strongly suggest having a Camera AC power adapter at cameras located at distances farther than 60 ft in length. but if you are using the cable length provided with your DVR, you can power the cameras from the DVR location. since every 60ft BNC cable come with two leads one for Video and one for Power. • No. There DOES need to be an outlet for the cameras very near the DVR. The power connections are at the other end of the cables, inside the house.
