As soon as u hook up the cameras it walks you through step by step on the set up super easy I never did anything w a subscription and they work great

You may view the live stream locally via a connected TV/Monitor, or you may remotely view the live stream by connecting the DVR to the internet and downloading the Night Owl Application on your smartphone.
